SKTEditor: Walkthrough

This section will walk you through the creation of a simple ISTP-compliant CDF from beginning to end. The example that we will use use the wi_ko_mfi_000000_v01.skt skeleton table as an example.

Prior to this tool, you would need to use a text editor to edit the skeleton table and make changes. You would also need to have the resulting skeleton table checked for error, omissions, etc. to ensure that it is indeed ISTP-compliant. This could prove troublesome and time consuming.

For illustration purposes this walkthrough will begin from scratch. In general, you should be able to obtain an ISTP-compliant master CDF, (or skeleton table) that is closely resembles the data that you have, open it with the editor and make only minor corrections.

The steps for creating this master CDF with the SKTEditor are as follows:

  1. Launch the SKTEditor application
  2. Enter the global attribute information
  3. Create variables
    1. Create a new variable
    2. Enter the specifications and display attributes
    3. Label the variable
    4. Setup the variable dependencies
    5. Enter the variable description
  4. Save the file
