Ulysses URAP 1-Day Dynamic Spectrograms, Interplanetary

NSSDC ID: SPHE-00783

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Time span: 1990-11-03 to 2004-02-29

Description

This data set includes postscript files of dynamic spectrograms for one day of data from three URAP sensors: the Radio Astronomy Receiver (RAR), Plasma Frequency Receiver (PFR), and Wave Form Analyzer (WFA). The four panels in each plot respectively give electric field intensity from the RAR, PFR, and WFA, and also magnetic field intensity from the WFA. Data are plotted in the form of dynamic spectra (wave intensity versus frequency and time) with color from dark blue to red proportional to the wave intensity. Frequency is plotted along the vertical axis, and time along the horizontal axis. The wave intensities are plotted at 128-sec intervals. The PFR and WFA intensities are peak values for these intervals while those from the RAR are time averages, all as determined from telemetry data at 32-second resolution. A full description of the URAP data parameters is given in the URAP user's guide. The plot data files are provided in Postscript format and can be tranferred as ASCII files. Details on the URAP experiment are available in Stone, R.G., et al., "The Unified Radio and Plasma Wave Investigation," Astron. and Astrophys. Supp. Ser., 92, 291-316, 1992.
