Simpson Laboratory for Astrophysics and Space Research University of Chicago Time Coverage: 1973-04-06 to 1992-09-01 Note added 25 February 2009: This text file was originally created to describe hourly-averaged count rates computed from 15-min data at NSSDC and cast into 6-month files. A new version of this data set was created in 2008 at GSFC/Space Physics Data Facility to facilitate the FTPBrowser interface at http://ftpbrowser.gsfc.nasa.gov/p11_part_cpi_1h.html. The differences between the new data set and its predecessor are: (a) the new data set has full-year files rather than 6-month files; (b) the fill value was changed from -1.00E+31 to 1.00E+031; (c) there is a record for every hour of every day in the new data set, even if all count rate words have fill values. The file naming in the new data set is P11CP_1HYYYY.ASC. The format and content information given below are equally valid for the hourly records of the 6-month and full-year versions of the data set. This directory has the new full-year files.
