Reduced Cosmic Ray Particle Count Rates

NSSDC ID: SPHE-00041

Availability: At NSSDC, Ready for Offline Distribution (or Staging if Digital)

Time span: 1966-06-09 to 1969-12-01

Description

The data set consists of a copy of original reduced count rate data on IBM 7094, binary magnetic tapes. The tapes contain count rates ordered by solar rotation number but do not contain pulse height or orbital data. The particle count rates are from various detector coincidence combinations of the nuclear composition and proton-alpha telescopes, and some low-E proton telescope count rates. Each tape has a 24-character (six bits per character) header record followed by a variable number of files. Each file has a 144-character header record, followed by a variable number of records that have a total length of 3972 characters, followed by a file trailer record (24 characters). A microfilmed index of this data set is available (data set 66-049A-03D).
