The Mariner 10 magnetometer data at 42-sec resolution are now available in
subdirectory magnetic_fields/ip_42s_ascii for Nov. 1973 to March 1975, 
although the data are not continuous in this interval. Note that day of 
year 0 is Jan. 1 in these data files. The hourly data are also available 
at subdirectory ip_hour_ascii.

This Mariner 10 update file has been extracted from the old aaupdate.doc file at
the VMS anonymous FTP site for all COHO-related datasets. Directory names for
current Mariner 10 data sets have been changed for new locations at this new
site. Note that all directory and file names at this site are actually in lower
case, even though they are given below in upper case.

An ASCII version of the Mariner 10 hourly interplanetary magnetic field data
set for 1973 - 1974 in Mariner10/mag/hour has been created with most of the
same data parameters as in the original binary data set. See the file
M10MAGHR_FMT.txt for further information.

Mariner 10 (Mariner Venus Mercury) magnetometer data for 11/3/73 - 9/18/74 have
been placed in subdirectory MARINER10/MAG. These are the ASCII text
(M10MAG.DOC) and binary data (M10MAG.DAT) files from the Ness magnetometer
experiment during interplanetary cruise as originally archived at NSSDC as data
set 73-085A-04P. {note: the binary Mariner 10 data file is not available at
the present UNIX FTP site; see the 2/25/98 message above for the ASCII version
of this data set.}

 Today is the twentieth anniversary of the launch of Mariner 10 (Mariner Venus
 Mercury) on November 3, 1973. Soon we will add solar wind data from the
 tape archive at NSSDC to the COHO data base.
