Digital Distribution Functions

Description

This data set consists of magnetotail proton and electron distribution functions, each with "fluxes" at each of 16 azimuthal look directions and 15 energy steps. The "fluxes" are in distribution function units of particles x sec**3 x cm**2. Derived proton densities and flow speeds (Vx, Vy), time, and spacecraft position and distance to the neutral sheet are also given. The data are for the 1978-1983 ISEE era, plus the April-June, 1986, PROMIS peroid. The data were provided to NSSDC on 6 VAX binary tapes (272 4-byte words/record) with accompanying software to read records and produce 2.2 KB ASCII records.
