understanding of the unreliability of Geotail/CPI data at times of very cold solar wind. We used Wind and/or ACE data to identify such cold intervals, and then checked CPI plots to ascertain the presence of unreliable data. [Bill Paterson asserted CPI data unreliability when "T" < 2 eV (Since E(eV) = 0.86 * 10**-4 * T(deg K), this means T < 23256 deg K.)] The multi-hour intervals above labelled "(1)" and "(2)" were found with the criterion T(ACE) and/or T(Wind) < 10000 deg K, so they may be the most egregiously wrong data. The difference between "(1)" and "(2)" is that at least parts of the intervals labelled "(2)" had already been marked as suspicious before our low-temperature tests. Thus they had both field and plasma data deleted from those parts. The intervals labelled "(1)" have only plasma data deleted.
