Magnetic Field Data

NSSDC ID: SPMS-00126

Availability: Exclusively CDAW Proprietary Data - Contact Agent for More Information

Time span: 1979-03-22 to 1979-03-22

Description

These experimenter-supplied dc magnetic field data are on binary magnetic tape created on an IBM 370 computer. Each physical block of 12368 bytes contains two logical records of data relative to 64 consecutive telemetry formats. The data include a format counter; modified Julian day (day 10196 = 01/12/77); milliseconds of the day; and 1024 consecutive values for V, D and H (field components in units of nT/4). The VDH coordinate system is defined as follows: V-axis is directed away from the center of earth along the earth-spacecraft line; D-axis is directed towards east, perpendicular to V and to the spin axis of the earth; and H-axis is parallel to the spin axis of the earth.
