Description

These experimenter-supplied, low energy plasma data are on magnetic tape written in binary on a Nord 10 computer. A logical data record is composed of a 22-byte auxiliary data record and sixty-four 22-byte experimental data records. The tapes are blocked at four logical records per physical record. The data files are preceded by an 80-byte, EBCDIC header lable file containing a volume number, experiment ID, and tape creation date. The auxiliary data consist of modified Julian day; universal time in milliseconds; eccentric dipole time in seconds; radial distance; eccentric dipole latitude; and angle of local magnetic field with respect to spin axis. The experimental data consist of a quality byte; status byte for detectors 2 to 10; and count rates for detectors 2 to 10. The status byte consists of three parameters: 1) type of particles measured (electrons or positive ions); 2) energy scan mode (sweep, fixed, or stepping); and 3) energy level number.
