The list is a list of data files. The data files | | are in various directories on an optical disc, or on a | | series of optical discs. Consequently, the list tells | | (among other things) what directory a file is in. The | | following format description uses, for its example, the | | optical discs that hold the LAPI data. On other optical | | discs, that hold HAPI data, there are also lists of | | files, and this format description applies to them as | | well. But there are minor differences, which are | | mentioned below. | |------------------------------------------------------------| Each list is a separate file in the "LAPI" directory (or, on the HAPI optical discs, the "HAPI" directory.) On the LAPI series of optical discs, names of the files are: THIS_SIDE.DATA_FILE_LIST and ALL_4_SIDES.DATA_FILE_LIST On the HAPI series of optical discs, names of the files are: THIS_SIDE.DATA_FILE_LIST and ALL_3_SIDES.DATA_FILE_LIST Whatever the optical disc, these two files have the same format. Each line of text in the list gives the information for one data file. Three sample lines (assuming LAPI) are below: L812271309C.SATM;1 81227 13:09:02 - 13:33:42 81227_81246 LAPI01 L812271416C.SATM;1 81227 14:16:22 - 14:17:50 81227_81246 LAPI01 L812271449C.SATM;1 81227 14:49:34 - 14:58:06 81227_81246 LAPI01 ^ ^ | | Differences between LAPI and HAPI are in }-------------------------|----| these 2 columns, see below. } The format for each line is: 3 spaces Filename (18 characters) (N.B. The 18 characters contain the "." between the name and the extension, as well as the VMS-style ";y" where y is a version-number of the file. So it appears that versions of more than one digit are not expected.) 3 spaces Date in the form yyddd (for example 81277 is year 1981 Julian day 227) (5 characters) 3 spaces Beginning time in the form hh:mm:ss 1 space 1 hyphen 1 space Ending time in the form hh:mm:ss 3 spaces Subdirectory name (11 characters) (See Note 1 below.) 2 spaces Optical disk side-number, in the form - For LAPI: LAPI0n, where n is 1, 2, 3, or 4. For HAPI: HAPI0n, where n is 1, 2, or 3. (in either case, 6 characters) ----------------------------------------------- Note 1 - (Also mentioned in the VOLDESC): The name of a directory directly indicates the dates of the data covered in that directory. For example, a directory named: 81247_81275 means that the data covered in the directory is "from 1981, 247th day through 1981, 275th day, inclusive." /* EOF */
