Dynamics Explorer-2 (DE 2) Merged Magnetometer Instrument (MAGB) and Vector Electric Field Instrument (VEFI) Data This directory gathers merged data sets for the MAG-B and VEFI instruments that flew on the DE 2 spacecraft which was launched on 3 August 1981 into an elliptical orbit with an altitude range of 300 km to 1000 km and re-entered the atmosphere on 19 February 1983. A description of the MAG-B instrument and data is provided in MAGB_instrument_data.txt. A description of VEFI instrument and data is provided in VEFI_instrument_data.txt. /dc_highres_vmsbin (NSSDC ID: 81-070B-01D/-02G) This data set contains the combined high-resolution (16 samples per second) magnetic and electric field data in spacecraft coordinates and orbit information for the time period from Aug 10, 1981 to Feb 18, 1983 in VAX binary format as daily files (yyyyddd_de2_vefi_magb_dc_highres.vmsbin). A description of the data format can be found in description_dc_highres.txt. /dc_500ms_ascii (NSSDC ID: 81-070B-01F/-02I) This data set contains the merged VEFI and MAG-B (2 samples per second) data in spacecraft coordinates and orbit information as daily files in ASCII format (yyyyddd_de2_vefi_magb_dc_500ms.asc) for the time period from Aug 10, 1981 to Feb 18, 1983. These data are also available for plotting at A description of the data format can be found in description_dc_500ms.txt. /matrix_500ms_ascii (NSSDC ID: 81-070B-00H) This data set contains the transformation matrices for conversion from spacecraft coordinates to topographic coordinates in ASCII format as daily files (yyyyddd_de2_vefi_magb_matrix_500ms.asc) for the time period from Aug 10, 1981 to Feb 18, 1983. A description of the data format can be found in description_matrix_500ms.txt Please acknowledge the NASA Space Physics Data Facility and the instrument's Principal Investigator for data usage.
