3 December, 1993 This directory contains the files necessary to reformat MAF files from the DE-1 Scanning Auroral Imager (SAI) into CDFs. Once in CDF, the images may be examined with the CXIT program, currently available on the Macintosh and Sun platforms, and in process of being ported to the PC platform. Contact D. Bilitza (NSSDCA::BILITZA or bilitza@nssdca.gsfc.nasa.gov) or R. Candey (NSSDCA::CANDEY or candey@nssdca.gsfc.nasa.gov) for further information. There are three other "readme" files in this directory. The CDF.RELEASE file gives the information necessary to obtain the CDF package, which is required for the DE_SAI to CDF conversion. The DE_SAI.README file describes the contents of all other files, and tells how to use them. The CXIT.README file gives information about the CXIT program. The SAI_CDF.COM file can be used to automate CDF creation from the SAI files. To obtain the MAF files via the NASA Data Archive and Distribution Service (NDADS) on-line system, send a mail message to NDADSA::ARCHIVES (or, to archives@ndadsa.gsfc.nasa.gov). On the subject line, enter MANUAL; the body of the letter can be empty. By return Email, you will receive the NDADS manual (in TeX) describing the NDADS system. An example of a request for data is: To: NDADSA::ARCHIVES Subject: REQUEST DE SAI In the body of the message, put: yydddhh (where yydddhh is the data day/hour one item per line) Entering DOCUMENT after SAI (in the Subject line) gives you documentation. Entering HOLDINGS DE as the subject gives you the DE data holdings.
