AE-C UNIFIED ABSTRACT DATA -------------------------- This data set contains 15-second resolution atmospheric and ionospheric parameters from NASA's AE-C spacecraft, measured between December 1973 and December 1978. AE-C's geocentric orbit was elliptical as well as circular at times with a closest perigee of 150 km and a farthest apogee of 4300 km and with an inclination of 68.1 degrees. Each file includes one day of data. The file name corresponds to year, month, and day (of the month), for example, the file named c7511_15.DAT contains data for Novemver 15, 1975). AE-C DATA FORMAT ---------------- Each file contains ASCII formatted data in logical records of variable length. Each file consists of a header record followed by seperate (multi-record) blocks of UA and orbit data. Each block contains the measurements for one individual parameter taken during the specific day; this parameter can be either a UA parameter or an orbit parameter. The header record contains the solar and magnetic indices for the day: yyddd I6 Five-digit number which specifies the year and day of year; Ap(1:9) 9I6 The eight planetary Ap indices for the given day and the daily Ap; Kp(1:9) 9I6 The eight planetary Kp indices for the given day and their sum; F10.7o F8.2 Observed solar radio flux (10.7 cm) F10.7c F8.2 Corrected solar radio flux (10.7 cm) The format statememt is: FORMAT (19I6, 2F8.2, 8X) The header is followed by data (UA and orbit) blocks of the following structure: IVAR I6 The integer code number for the specific parameter (see table below); IB I6 The running index number of the first 15-sec interval for which data are available for the specific parameter for the given day; 15-sec intervalls are numbered consecutively starting with 1 for the interval 0-15 sec, 2 for 16-30 sec, and so on; IE I6 The running index number for the last 15-sec interval for the specific parameter for the given day; ORBIT I6 Orbit number The format statement is: FORMAT(4I6); This first record of the data block is followed by N records containing the M (=IE-IB+1) measurments of the specific parameter during the given day. Each of the N records contains 15 values and therefore N = M/15+1. Data gaps are indicated with the fill-value 1.0E+35. The format statement is: FORMAT(15E10.3); Use Directory "AEDOC" to get detailed information about AE-E Spacecraft and each experiment.
