Polar Footprint Plots
The POLAR spacecraft's magnetic footprint at 100 km altitude is shown for the northern hemisphere (left) and the southern hemisphere (right). The magnetic footprints are computed by using the Tsyganenko T89c model with Kp=3-,3,3+.
The color coding of the footprint is based on where Polar is located in the (model) magnetosphere as given below.
- Auroral oval: RED
- Cleft: BLUE
- Cusp: BLACK
- Polar cap: GRAY
- Plasmasphere: GREEN
- Magnetosphere, other than above: YELLOW
